Contact with India’s moon lander Vikram was lost when it was moving towards the lunar surface in the early hours of Saturday. ISRO Chairman K.K. Sivan said the contact was broken when Vikram was 2.1 kilometers away from the moon’s landing at the south pole. ISRO Chief K Sivan said that data is still awaited. While this news showed disappointment among ISRO scientists, Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged the ISRO scientists and said that you have done a very good job.

He said that there will be ups and downs in life and this journey will continue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “When the mission is big, one should dare to overcome despair. I congratulate you all very much. You have done great service to the human race of the country.”

ISRO is waiting for data. There is disappointment among scientists due to the loss of contact with Chandrayaan just before the moon. The night before, Chandrayaan-2 was to land on the lunar surface at one o’clock at 52 minutes 54 seconds. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reached the ISRO Center to witness this historic moment.

The process of bringing the lander to the moon’s surface at around one o’clock in the night was started, but while coming down on the moon, it lost contact with the ground station at an altitude of 2.1 km. ‘Vikram’ successfully completed the ‘Rough Breaking’ and ‘Fine Breaking’ stages, but before the ‘soft landing’ it lost contact with the station on earth. Along with this, the lines of despair on the faces of scientists and people of the country were covered.

Amidst the nationwide wait for Vikram Lander’s soft ‘landing at the south pole of the lunar surface, ISRO said on Friday that things were proceeding as planned for the much-awaited landing. Before landing on the south pole of the moon of Vikram Lander under Chandrayaan-2 mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this campaign reflects the spirit of superior Indian talent and austerity.

Prime Minister Modi tweeted that crores of Indians will benefit from its success. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) president K Sivan said, “We are eagerly waiting for this (landing).” Everything is happening according to plan. The lander ‘Vikram’ will make a ‘soft landing’ on the lunar surface between one and a half hours today.

According to ISRO, the lander is equipped with three scientific instruments that will carry out scientific experiments on the lunar surface and subsurface, while there are two scientific instruments with the rover that will enhance understanding related to the lunar surface. With successful ‘soft landing’, India will become the fourth country in the world after Russia, America and China to achieve this feat.

With this, India will become the first country in the world to reach the moon’s South Pole region while writing a new chapter in space history. Sivan recently said that the proposed ‘soft landing’ would be a heart-stopping situation as ISRO has never done this before.
